John Legend embarks on book publishing | Nation and world affairs

John Legend’s most recent project brings him into the world of books.

Legend, Tony Award-winning producer Mike Jackson and Emmy Award-winner Ty Stiklorius team up with publisher Zando for new edition, Get Lifted Books, an extension of production company Get Lifted Movie.

Zando, an independent company founded last year by former Crown editor Molly Stern, has also formed imprints with actress-producer Lena Waithe and “Gone Girl” novelist Gillian Flynn.

“Get Lifted Film Co. was born out of the need to create platforms for diverse voices that deserve to be heard,” Legend, Jackson and Stiklorius said in a statement Monday. “And we felt an immediate kinship with the Zando team, which does just that. Together we have the unique opportunity to support and nurture brilliant authors, who have the ability to transform the conversation. We’re thrilled to have the chance to play a role in amplifying their voices and connecting readers to their work.

The first acquisition of Get Lifted Books is the novel “Rosewater” by Liv Little, founder of gal-dem magazine. “Rosewater” is slated for release in Spring 2023.
